Placido (Sandy) Sandoval Jr., 87, passed away Friday (April 10, 2015) at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, IL. Born March 28, 1928, in Laredo, TX, he was the son of Antonia Sandoval nee Valle, and Placido Sandoval. Placido (Sandy) was born and raised in Laredo, where he went to Martin High School in 1945. He proudly served during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge from the US Army. He married Ophelia (Faye) Lugo in 1957 in Oak Park, IL. Sandy and Faye made their home in Lyons, IL. They loved to square dance and round dance. Placido (Sandy) worked for Transcon in Lyons IL. They raised two sons, Rik and David. They were ecstatic to become the proud grandparents of Aja, they finally got a girl. Family and Music were his two greatest loves. Sandy recently lived at Silverado, a Memory Care Community in Highland Park, IL. He is survived by two sons, Rik Sandoval, of San Carlos, CA., David (Sandra) Sandoval of Highland Park, IL; three grandchildren, Aja Marie Sandoval of Sidney, Australia, Scott (Tracey) Becker of Milwaukee, Wi. and Laura Jurvich of New Lenox, IL.; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Raymond Jurvich of New Lenox, IL; six siblings, Esperanza (Lamberto) Ramirez of Lisle, Rogelio (Elena) Sandoval of Burbank, Roberto (Gloria) Sandoval of San Antonio, TX, Chief Master Sargent (Ret.) Raul (Marianne) Sandoval of San Antonio, TX, Horacio (Birget) Sandoval of Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Maria Sandoval of Laredo, TX. He was predeceased by his wife, Ophelia (Faye), his parents Antonia and Placido Sandoval, his brother Eduardo Sandoval and, his three sister’s-in-law Alicia Sandoval Gloria Sandoval and Mariana Sandoval and brother-in-law, Lamberto Ramirez. A Visitation/Memorial Service will be held at Kelly Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL. on 4/16/2015. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Service at 11 a.m. to Noon. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL. at 10 a.m. on 4/17/2015. Please meet at the grave site. Lot 7 Block 21 Section H. G. Grave 7 The Family expresses their gratitude to the dedicated staff at Silverado.
