The city's annual program for single-family residential customers begins April 18.
HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The City of Highland Park has announced the return of its annual Spring Clean-Up program for single-family residential customers.
The service will take place over four consecutive Saturdays starting April 18 and concluding May 9. The specific date for collection is determined by a resident's primary refuse collection day.
Items must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled date. To maintain clean streets, the city asks that residents do not place materials out for collection more than one week early.

Residents may dispose of up to one cubic yard of construction material. Any material from do-it-yourself projects must be bundled so a single person can lift it into the truck. Carpeting must be rolled and kept to a manageable weight for one person to carry.
Waste generated by general contractors will not be accepted. The program prohibits several items, including electronics, appliances, regular garbage, and yard waste. Other excluded materials are debris from landscapers, demolition materials, tires, batteries, oil, and household hazardous waste like paint or pesticides.
Residents requiring appliance removal, such as refrigerators, freezers, or washers and dryers, must call Lakeshore Recycling Systems at 844-633-3577 to arrange a special pickup. When calling for an appliance, residents should provide their name, address, and the specific item type.
