“We know how important it is to reopen our physical library, and how much the community needs our services now more than ever,” said Executive Director Carmen Patlan. “With the health and safety of staff and patrons at the forefront, this reopening plan will enable us to provide resources to those without devices or internet at home, including our Spanish speaking population.”
Since its temporary closure in mid-March, HPL pivoted quickly to deliver critical services, programs, and resources to the public online, including curbside pickup, temporary library cards, and Zoom programs.
In an important initiative with the Roberti Community House and Curt’s Café, HPL also became a pop-up food distribution site during the closure. The site served food to over 210 families on a weekly basis and distributed information on social distancing and personal hygiene.
Accessible from home, the Library has thousands of books, movies, music, and more for you to stream or download with your Library card.
