Highwood Will Unveil Sculpture Made From Piece of World Trade Center

'Solace,' created by a local artist, will be unveiled at Highwood City Hall on September 11, honoring the lives lost 14 years ago.

A sculpture containing a remnant of the World Trade Center will be dedicated in the city of Highwood this year on September 11.

The sculpture was created by Highwood artist Julia Rotblatt-Armany, a world-renowned artist who will unveil the bronze and stainless steel piece called ‘Solace’ at 11 a.m. on September 11, 2015 in front of Highwood City Hall, 17 Highwood Avenue. It depicts a fireman taking a moment to acknowledge those who perished on September 11, 2001.

“This piece was created to serve as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the heinous act of terrorism, 14 years ago,” Rotblatt-Amrany said. “Solace came as the we joined together as a nation to weather the loss and as we continue to remember and honor those who died on that day.”
