Highwood Woman Arrested on Warrant for Mob Action: Cops

The following information is from the Highland Park Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

Richard Garlick, 43, of the 400 block of Central Avenue was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, criminal trespass to vehicle and possession of cannabis after police responded to a report of a subject seen inside of the victim vehicle parked in a lot near Central Avenue and Green Bay at 1:33 p.m. on August 25. Garlick was later found in possession of a wallet taken in an earlier burglary to motor vehicle.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Panagiota Pouplikolas, 58, Waukesha, Wisconsin was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1800 block of Skokie Valley Road at 12:59 a.m. on August 27.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Avigai Gomez, 41, Highwood was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended after police responded to a traffic accident at Orchard and St. John’s Avenue at 9:13 a.m. on August 28. Gomez was also found to have a failure to appear warrant for Mob Action from Lake County Sheriff.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Emilio Abarca, 41, Chicago was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and open transportation of alcohol after police responded to a driving complaint and stopped Abarca near the 0-100 block of the Edens Expressway. at 2:59 p.m. on August 29.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Julio Hernandez-Sanchez, 29, Waukegan was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding after being stopped by police in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road at 2:09 p.m. on August 30.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Sergio Herrera-Ortiz, 28, Glenview was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended after police located a suspicious vehicle parked running with the lights off at the dead end of Central Avenue at 1:06 a.m. on August 31.

THEFT

A men’s 26” Trek mountain bicycle was stolen from the train station in the 1700 block of St. John’s Avenue sometime on August 18. The lock was defeated and also missing.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A 2014 Honda Odyssey van was broken into sometime between 5:15 and 6 p.m. on August 27 while parked in a lot in the 1800 block of Sunset Road. The left rear window was shattered and a black purse containing credit cards, cash, a passport and other miscellaneous items were taken.

THEFT

An orange snowblower was stolen from a parking lot in the 400 block of Laurel Avenue sometime between August 28 at 4 p.m. and August 30 at 10 a.m.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

A rear window on a Ford was shattered while driving near the intersection of Brownville Road and Lincolnwood Road when occupants of an unknown sedan travelling the opposite direction threw a beer bottle out the window at 11:07 p.m. on August 30.
