HPHS Names Alum As Head Football Coach
The head coach of Highland Park High School football is David Lindquist, a former captain of the HPHS Giants and Fighting Illini.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park High School alum and special education teacher David Lindquist has been named the head football coach after eight years as a teacher and a coach. Lindquist played football all four years at HPHS before graduating in 2004.
Lindquist walked onto the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a defensive lineman, plahying all four years. He led the Big Ten in fumble recoveries in 2006, and started in the 2008 Rose Bowl before he was elected team captain during his senior year.
In a statement announcing his appointment, he said he hoped to bring together the whole student body around a shared goal.

“The Highland Park High School football team represents the development of each of our communities’ youth into strong-willed, respected, and honorable student-athletes,” Lindquist stated.
“I'm most excited about uniting each of our school's communities in an effort to achieve our common goal: winning football games through community effort.”

The varsity football team opens the season Aug. 24 at Libertyville. The Giants' home opener is scheduled for Aug. 31 against Lakes Community High School.
