• Highland Park Man, Northwestern Staffer Charged With Possessing Child Pornography (patch.com) — Highland Park residents are learning that a 41-year-old local man, who works as a Northwestern University staff member, has been charged with three counts of possessing child pornography following a search of his Ridge Road home. Lake County prosecutors say cybercrime investigators traced illicit file-sharing activity to his address, seized multiple electronic devices with help from specialized K-9s, and emphasize their ongoing focus on protecting children from exploitation.
   

• Fort Sheridan Cleanup Set For Sept. 5 After Storm Delay (patch.com) — Highland Park neighbors are invited to join a rescheduled Fort Sheridan beach cleanup on the morning of Sept. 5, with volunteers meeting at the forest preserve's east parking lot. Local environmental groups and State Rep. Bob Morgan are providing supplies for this family-friendly effort, which supports the Great Lakes-wide Adopt-A-Beach program and tackles plastic pollution threatening regional drinking water and wildlife.
