HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged the rear window of a Cadillac SUV that had been been parked in the 900 block of Rollingwood Road prior to 1 p.m. Sept. 30, cracking the glass in a spider web pattern. Nothing was stolen from inside the car.

  • Someone stole four pallets of rebar connectors worth an estimated $12,000 from a storage area at the entrance to North Shore Railroad, 1377 Clavey Road, at some point between June 9 and Sept. 9.
  • Two lockers at LA Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, were broken into, with one or more thieves taking $150 in cash from one locker and about $460 from the other or or before the evening of Sept. 30. Both lockers were missing locks at the time.
  • A resident in the 3500 block of Dato Avenue reported that two wall mirrors and an air conditioner were reported missing on the morning of Oct. 1.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Christine Hill, 54, of the 200 block of Red Oak Lane, Highland Park, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery after police were called to a report of a dispute at a home in the 1400 block of Chantilly Court. Hill is an environmental science teacher at Highland Park High School, an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago and an original author of the AP Environmental Science curriculum, according to the school district's website. Hill posted the $500 cash portion of her bond on the afternoon of Oct. 1 and was released on the condition she has no contact with the person she is accused of battering.

Janett Wolk, 46, of the 1700 block of Old Briar Road, Highland Park, was arrested around 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Skokie Valley Road. She was also issued citations for improper lane usage and unsafe equipment.

Giana Henry, 35, of the 900 block of West Ridgeland Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Oct. 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and speeding 35 mph or more above the limit following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road. Officers also ticketed her for failure to signal when required and speeding in alleys.

Jayvin Garcia, 22, of the 1700 block of West Huron Street, Chicago, was arrested around 4:15 a.m. on Oct. 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a crash in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road. Officers also issued him citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Kataryna Kochelyk, 30, of the 100 block of East Bonnie Brae Avenue, Mount Prospect, was arrested around 11 p.m. on Oct. 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid license and leaving the scene of a crash at Lake Cook Road and the Edens Expressway. She was also ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
