HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

JEWELRY THEFT
An unspecified amount of jewelry was reported missing from a home in the 1900 block of Richfield Avenue at some point prior to the afternoon of April 11.

SHOPLIFTING
On April 18, staff at the Target at 2099 Skokie Valley Road reported that one or more people stole four bottles of alcohol and a Dyson vacuum for a loss of $628.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFT
At some point between April 7 and April 19, someone stole a catalytic converter from a Honda SUV parked in the Highland Park Library parking lot at 494 Laurel Ave.

THEFTS FROM WALLETS

  • Someone stole cash from a wallet that had been left in an unlocked locker in a break room at Highland Park Hospital, 777 Park Ave. West, at some point between 7 a.m. April 9 and 7 p.m. April 10.
  • Someone got into a locked gym locker at the L.A. Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, and stole cash and multiple credit cards from a wallet. Those cards were later used at unspecified other merchants.

VANDALISM

  • Graffiti was found found on a railroad crossing sign at the intersection of Lincoln Place and Lincoln Avenue West on the evening of April 14.
  • At some point prior to April 21, someone pulled a bench out of the ground at the central train station at 1700 St. Johns Ave.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Alexis Y. Solano-Alvarenga, 25, of the 200 block of Susan Circle West, Park City, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on April 16 and charged driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on Skokie Valley Road at Park Avenue West. Officers also issued her citations for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver and driving without headlights.

Daniel Rodriguez, 24, of the 1300 block of Garden Place, Waukegan, turned himself in to police on the night of April 19 in connection with a violation of an order of protection.

Justin A. Russell, 34, of the 3100 block of West Fulton Street, Chicago, was arrested around 2:45 a.m. on April 21 on an active arrest issued by the Bedford Park Police Department. Officers reported they noticed him in a suspicious vehicle in the 1300 block of Park Avenue West.
