Local League of Women Voters is 90 Years Old!
The League of Women Voters of Highland Park/Highwood Celebrates 90 Years with Luncheon and Library Display.

On March 28, 1928 in the kindergarten room of Lincoln School, the League of Women Voters of Highland Park, a branch of the recently formed League of Women Voters of the United States, was established.
Artifacts from the League's ninety year history may be seen on display at the Highland Park Library through the beginning of June. Stop by the main reading room and observe some of our history and experience the
richness of the contributions made by our League to our community.

On May 19th, the League will celebrate its 90th Anniversary at a gala luncheon at Bella Via Ristorante in Highland Park, beginning at 12 noon. The program will feature the keynote speaker, the Honorable Barbara Flynn Currie, Majority Leader of the Illinois House of Representatives.
Barbara Flynn Currie is the first woman Majority Leader of the Illinois House of Representatives. First
elected in 1978, Ms. Curie represents the 25th district in Chicago. She is a long-time member of the League of Women Voters and on the Board of the ACLU of Illinois.

The public is invited to join in the celebration. Cost is $45. Reservations may be made on the website www.lwvhp.org or by sending reservation information and a check, made out to LWV-HP/HW, to LWV HP/HWD, P.O. Box 396, Highland Park, Illinois 60035.
