Man Tried to Steal Shopping Cart Full of Booze: Police

A pink purse and ice skates were reported stolen from a locker room. Two TVS stolen from business.

The following information is from the Highland Park Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Ricardo Douglas, 24, Berwyn was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road. at 8:42 a.m. on October 13.

NO VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE

Matthew DeBord, 34, Barrington was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no valid driver’s license after police responded to a two car accident near Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road at 1:16 a.m. on October 14.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Kelly Tate, 47, North Chicago was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding after being stopped by police in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road at 3:37 a.m. on October 14.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Deshanne Smith, 29, Waukegan was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and expired registration after being stopped by police in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road at 1:28 a.m. on October 15.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Michael Rabin, 54, of the 1800 block of York Lane was arrested and charged with domestic battery, aggravated battery to a person over age 60 and criminal damage to property after police responded to a report of a dispute at 12:17 p.m. on October 16.

RUNNING A RED LIGHT

Simeon Barrientos-Garcia, Jr., 21, Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, no valid driver’s license, uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device (red light) after police responded to a driving complaint in the 1500 block of Clavey Road. at 11:16 p.m. on October 16.

RETAIL THEFT

Tyrone Gibbs, 49, Evanston was arrested and charged with retail theft after police responded to a report of a shoplifter attempting to take a shopping cart full of liquor at a business in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road at 12:34 p.m. on October 17.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Daniel Dougherty, 29, of the 300 block of Temple Avenue was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property after police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of Temple Avenue where Dougherty had reportedly kicked an apartment door in at 4:13 a.m. on October 18.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Shaqurah Bell, 21, Waukegan was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and uninsured motor vehicle after being stopped by police in the 3000 block of Skokie Valley Road at 12:34 a.m. on October 19.

THEFT

Sometime between 3 p.m. on October 10 and the morning of October 12, unknown person(s) stole a pink Lululemon purse containing ice skates from a locker room at a business in the 3100 block of Centennial Lane.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

Sometime between 8 p.m. on October 13 and 6 a.m. on October 14, unknown person(s) cut the locks on multiple landscape trailers and removed chainsaws, backpack blowers, trimmers and other landscape machines. The businesses are located in the 3200 block of Skokie Valley Road where several holes in a fence, possibly cut to gain access were located. A similar incident was reported two nights later in the 1400 to 1500 block of Old Deerfield Road.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A briefcase was stolen out of a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Carlyle Terrace that contained credit cards, a checkbook and other miscellaneous documents sometime before 9:21 a.m. on October 16.

RETAIL THEFT

One navy blue sweater was stolen from a business in the 1800 block of St. John’s Avenue after multiple items of merchandise were taken into a dressing room and nothing was purchased at 3:59 p.m. on October 17.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Graffiti was discovered spray painted on Veteran’s Parkway east of Walker Avenue at 2:24 p.m. on October 17. Additional graffiti was located near Veteran’s Parkway and Davis sometime overnight. The paint appears to be juvenile mischief type words painted on the pavement.

RETAIL THEFT

Two subjects stole two Samsung 32” TV’s from a business in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road after placing the tv’s in a shopping cart and exiting past the last point of sale at 4:46 p.m. on October 17.

THEFT

An iPhone was stolen after being left in an unattended bag on October 14 between 7:10 p.m. and 8 p.m. while at a business in the 2100 block of First Street.
