Over 214,000 Still Without Power Across Chicago Area After Monday's Severe Weather

Over 214,000 customers remain without power across the Chicago area after severe weather on Monday.

Power have been out for about 20 hours for most of these areas, and there are 4,998 active outages (as of 8 a.m. Tuesday), according to ComEd.

Many of the outages don't list a restoration time on ComEd's Outage Map, but ComEd shared a message with those affected by outages:

"We know you are without power and we appreciate your patience as crews work to restore your power. Based on the history of similar storms of this size, we expect 80 percent of interruptions to be restored by Wednesday at noon, and the vast majority of remaining customers to be restored by 10 p.m. on Friday, July 31. Some of towns hardest hit by power outages are (per the ComEd outage map):

• Waukegan, 13,889 customers affected
• Chicago Heights, 9,015 customers affected
• Oak Forest, 7,514 customers affected
• Homewood, 7,296 customers affected
• Downers Grove, 5,080 customers affected
• Lombard, 4,877 customers affected
• Glendale Heights, 4,493 customers affected
• Hazel Crest, 4,054 customers affected
• Country Club Hills, 3,903 customers affected
• Crete, 3,821 customers affected
• Wheaton, 3,808 customers affected
• Sauk Village, 3,760 customers affected
• Lake Forest, 3,698 customers affected
• Steger, 3,613 customers affected

The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed any tornadoes with Monday's storms but said it would be visiting DuPage and southern Cook counties on Tuesday to assess damage.
