Marie Osmond Cancels Ravinia Concert Due To Coronavirus Pandemic
Marie Osmond and David Archuleta are the first performers to cancel a performance at the Ravinia Festival due to COVID-19 concerns.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Singers Marie Osmond and David Archuleta have decided to cancel a concert with the Ravinia Festival Orchestra scheduled for Wednesday.
The Ravinia Festival Association announced Friday that Osmond and Archuleta made the "difficult decision" to call off the show due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We look forward to rescheduling for a future date and can’t wait until we have everyone back together to experience this wonderful show,” the two performers said in a joint statement released by the association.

It marks the second show in Ravinia's 2021 season to have been canceled — but the first explicitly due to COVID-19. Ziggy Marley had been due to make his debut at the festival with a celebration of the music of his father, Bob Marley, on Sept. 19. In June, he was replaced with Max Weinberg's Jukebox.
All other upcoming performances are set to go ahead as planned, including two shows this weekend featuring the Beach Boys with John Samos and next weekend's performances from Train and King Crimson.

All patrons and staff at Ravinia are required to wear masks, according to safety guidelines, but the festival does not require attendees to show proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test.
Last week, Osmond sang the national anthem at a preseason NFL opener in Las Vegas. Osmond and her brother, Donny, ended an 11-year residency at the Flamengo Hotel the city shortly before the emergence of COVID-19 in the United States.
Archuleta, a 2008 American Idol runner-up and, like Osmond, a Utah native and member of the Mormon church, is due to perform on Saturday and again on Sept. 24 in his home state, according to his website.
People who bought tickets to the Osmond-Archuleta show can exchange their tickets for another upcoming performance at Ravinia, decide to donate their paid amount to the festival association or receive a refund by contacting the box office before Sept. 8. After that, all tickets will be refunded.
