Masonic Lodges Host First Responder Appreciation Luncheon
Police, Fire, Public Works employees gave their all during the recent flooding, so the Masons are giving back to them...
Recently 8+" of rain in a short time frame overwhelmed the sewer systems, overflowed the rivers, and resulted in widespread flooding in Lake County. Here in Highland Park I witnessed our brave and hardworking first responders working 24 hrs a day until the fair citizens of Highland Park were able to resume to the regular activities of their daily lives. I witnessed Firefighters, Police, and Public Works employees simply working their tails off at all hours of the day and night. Getting through 8-12" of water, clearing sewers, dealing with crazy traffic issues, and other emergencies. They did it all with aplomb.
The Freemasons of the A.O. Fay (Highland Park) were grateful for their hard work and dedication, and we wanted to show our appreciation. We got in touch with the City Manager's office and worked out the details, we were told there'd be around 165 people, perhaps more, in attendance. We reached out to other Lodges in Lake County and Wauconda Masonic Lodge agreed to help with a 250# pig that they'd roast, on-site, overnight so it'd be hot, ready, and super delicious for lunch the next day - considering all the first responders did for us, we figured we could at least return the favor.
Burgers, brats, chips, soda, and water will be delivered in the morning so everything's ready to go for lunch. We even have local restaurants donating food.

All of the Firefighters, Police, Public Works and City staffers are invited. There's going to be a lot of food - no one's going away hungry. The Highland Park First Responder Appreciation Luncheon is taking place at the Highland Park Public Works Building (1150 Half Day Road, HP) at noon September 15, 2017.
It's going to be a great time, and we sincerely hope you all enjoy this small gesture of our sincere appreciation.
