Mikva Endorses Rotering for U.S. Congress

The former 10th District Congressman will support the Highland Park Mayor in the 2016 Democratic primary.

Abner J. Mikva, a former United States congressman in Illinois’ 10th District, has endorsed Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering in the 2016 race to represent the 10th Congressional District.

Rotering is slated to face Brad Schneider in the 2016 Democratic Primary. Republican Robert Dold, from Kenilworth, is the incumbent.

“My reasons for endorsing Nancy Rotering are powerful,” Mikva stated in an open letter to Schneider - according to a news release from Nancy Rotering for Congress. “She is not only expressing support for diplomacy via the Iran peace agreement but has generally advocated policies that are progressive and forward-looking,”

Mikva, who represented IL-10 in Congress from 1975 to 1979 (represented IL-2 previously) and later served as Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and White House Counsel for President Bill Clinton, said Rotering “would be a leading progressive, independent voice in Congress. That’s the kind of representation that the 10th District deserves.”

The current Highland Park Mayor said she is “incredibly honored” to receive Mikva’s support.

“He understands from his own experience as a five-term Congressman that the IL 10th Congressional District needs representation that reflects the values of the people and a leader who can put a proven track record of finding common sense solutions to work to meet the critical needs of the District now and in the future.” she said.
