Mother's Day 2022 Brunch: Reserve Now In Highland Park, Highwood

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Mother's Day is fast approaching. Those planning to treat a mom in their life to a brunch or dinner out on Sunday, May 8, would be wise to make a reservation soon before timeslots fill up.

The 2022 edition of Mother's Day is expected to the closest to a pre-pandemic "normal" celebration yet.

The coronavirus pandemic and associated restrictions have taken a toll on local restaurants in Highland Park and Highwood. And some area businesses are closing May 8 to allow the moms who work there time to be recognized by their families and for their employees to celebrate the mothers in their lives.

But Mother's Day reservations are still available at the following area restaurants, most of which offer brunch:

• Cafe Dacha, 675 Central Ave., Highland Park
• Disotto, 310 Green Bay Road, Highwood — Mother's Day brunch 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., dinner 4 to 8 p.m.
• Froggy's, 306 Green Bay Road in Highwood — there will be a special Mother's Day menu.
• Greenwood American Kitchen & Bar, 200 Green Bay Road, Highwood
• La Casa De Isaac & Moishe, 2014 1st St. Highland Park, 311 Waukegan Ave., Highwood — no reservation but open at 10 a.m.
• Longitud315, 315 Waukegan Road, Highwood
• Miramar, 301 Waukegan Ave., Highwood
• Scotty's on Sheridan, 810 Sheridan Road, Highwood
• Yiannis Opa, 2535 Waukegan Road, Bannockburn

Several chain restaurants and other eateries are open for Mother's Day this year, and some are offering specials. Below are a few other options available, which range from casual to fine dining.

As always, it’s advisable to call ahead to make sure the restaurants in the north suburbs are participating and to inquire about any COVID-19 restrictions or limitations.

California Pizza Kitchen is offering heart-shaped pizzas for one day only on Mother's Day.

The Capital Grille is accepting reservations for Mother’s Day. The restaurant included a “polite notice” on its reservations page stating that “to better deliver on our promise of a refined atmosphere, proper dress is required.” That excludes gym attire, sweatpants, tank tops, hats, clothing with offensive language or images, and exposed undergarments.

P.F. Chang's is offering an exclusive four-course Mother's Day meal. Reservations are available online or via phone.

Fogo de Chão Brazilian steakhouse is offering a ready-to-reheat Mother’s Day Celebration Package that feeds six and features a choice of fire-roasted meats, sides and dessert. Meals should be ordered at least 24 hours in advance and are available all day May 7, and until 10:30 a.m. May 8.

Morton’s, The Steakhouse is accepting reservations for Mother’s Day, and also will bring the meal to Mom in select locations. And Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is offering its prix fixe Mother’s Day meal, including a starter, entrée, side and dessert, from May 6-8.
