Featured obituary:
Sune T. Norberg, 88, of Lake Bluff, passed away on April 4. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden on Nov. 4, 1929. Beloved husband for 62 years of Ulla (nee Berggren); loving father of Birgitta (Marc) Hietala and Eric Norberg; dear morfar of Stefani and Linnea Hietala; brother of Asta Tedeblad and uncle to Johan, Anders and Per in Sweden.

Sune got a degree in mechanical engineering in Stockholm. His first job was at General Motors in Sweden. He moved to Manchester, England and worked for Renold Chains. While still working for Renold Chains, he moved to Montreal, Canada. He was a sales engineer and he traveled the U.S. and Canada.
His dream was to someday live in the United States and that dream came true in 1960, when he was transferred to Chicago.
Later he became a manufacturer’s representative for Gear Products. Eventually he started his own business Norberg Enterprises.
Sune loved sailing and he bought a boat in Ontario, Canada and he sailed it to Chicago. He sailed the Mackinac Race six times with an all Swedish crew. Sune loved to travel and together with his wife he traveled all over western Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. They have been to 49 states.
Sune was a member of the Swedish American Museum, a former member of Svenska Gillet and of the Lodbrok Lodge, Independent Order of Vikings.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1380 N. Waukegan Rd, Lake Forest.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Swedish American Museum.
