George William Gibson, 90, of Lake Forest, passed away on March 21, 2018 after experiencing a decline in health over the last several years. He was born on June 15, 1927 in Dixon, IL to George O. Gibson and Margaret Vivian (Drew) Gibson.
After graduating from Dixon High School George worked for a full year until he was old enough to join the U.S. Navy on June 13, 1945. He served on the USS Nicholas and USS Kidd until WW II ended.
After the war George reentered the work force and also enrolled at the University of Illinois, Champaign and earned his Bachelor of Science in 1954.

His career started at Continental Can Company after college and continued until accepting an offer from Merrill Lynch, Chicago and later retiring from Invest Securities in Libertyville.
George and Odette were united in marriage in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winter Haven, FL, on April 22, 1967.
He is survived by his loving wife Lucienne Odette and their three children George “Chip” Harris Gibson, Denver, CO, William Drew (Abby) Gibson, Parker, CO and Jacqueline Odette (Matthew) Wieck, Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren, Brady and Beau Gibson, Lucy, Theodore and Alton Wieck. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Jerome “Jerry” Gibson and is survived by two sisters, Greta Ann (Thomas) Snyder, Dixon, IL and Dominican Sister Mary Joan Gibson of Sinsinawa, WI.
