Featured obituary:

Jean Margaret Fabbri, 79, of Highland Park IL redeemed her “golden ticket” to heaven when she passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 22, 2018.

She was born on July 14, 1939 in Chicago IL, and graduated from Austin High School in 1957. She met the love of her life at his birthday celebration through a blind date when he was struck by the thunderbolt of St. Valentine that resulted in 58 years of blissful matrimony.

Jean loved children, and spent her years raising her own and working alongside others at Northwood Jr. High School District 112. “Mimi”, as she was affectionately known to grandchildren and great grandchildren, was extremely fond of her family and never missed one of their games, performances or hosting sleep overs. Her passions included being a lover of the opera, the theater and a proud member of the St. James Choir, with whom she sang for many years. In addition, she was an avid reader, a proficient gardener, a humming bird wrangler, an experienced seamstress, and a master of arts & crafts. Jean enjoyed cooking as much as she enjoyed watching her guests enjoy her culinary creations.

She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene and three children; Chris Fabbri (Jodi Wintering), Maria Warden (Mike), and Jennifer Skarzynski (Steve). She lives in the hearts of her seven grandchildren, Christopher (fiancée Dana Sadowski), Kathryn Sormankiewicz (Vance), Kevin, Jillian, Matthew, Michael, Mark; and her great grandchildren Kendall and Tucker. She is also survived by loving brother Ronald Jurcy (Lorraine Troiano) and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Jurcy.

A celebration of her life begins on Tuesday, November 27th at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL 60035. A mass of Catholic burial will follow 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 28th at St. James Church, 134 North Ave, Highwood, IL 60040. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the charity of your choice.
