Northwood Student Pulls New Alarm, Cops Called to School
The BluePoint alarms were just installed last week to help teachers alert police when there is an intruder.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - A Northwood Junior High School student activated the school’s newly installed BluePoint alarm system on Tuesday, forcing police to arrive at the school for the possibility of an armed intruder.
But no intruder was found and school officials later confirmed it was a student who pulled the alarm - just installed in North Shore School District 112 schools last week as a quick way to alert police in the event of an emergency - as a prank, according to the Daily North Shore.
“NSSD112 takes this violation very seriously, and the student or students involved will be identified,” Northwood Principal Sandra Arreguin wrote in an email.
District 112 Director of Operations and Facilities John Fuhrer said the BluePoint system allows all district level administration to immediately text each other and alert police if there is an intruder.
But a YouTube video posted by the District (above) shows the alarms are located near the school’s fire alarms, allowing access for students.
