Ongoing grocery bag distribution initiative kicks off

Celebrate Highwood raises over $4,000 in two days to feed over 200 local families

Celebrate Highwood, in partnership with Family Service Lake County, helped raised funds so that BellaRu Catering and Mis Dos Magos could provide food to fill grocery bags with fresh produce, meats, eggs and fresh masa, to distribute to over 200 families through Family Service Lake County - Nuestro Center. Donations are ongoing, with a goal of feeding 1,000 families a week, and can be made through https://www.famservice.org.

The food bags were delivered in trucks graciously donated by Windy City Linen and Greco & Sons. Some 400 food bags, along with diapers and toiletries from Fill-A-Heart 4 Kids and bags of summer toys from Families Helping Families Chicagoland, were distributed Wednesday May 13th at the Highwood Library Parking lot, as cars drove threw with their trunks open so volunteers could place the items directly in the trunks to abide by all safety measures.
