Over $8,500 In Tools Stolen From Car; Home Burglarized: Blotters

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 2000 block of Skyelar Court reported around 8:30 a.m. on March 18 that someone had burglarized a home. Nothing was reported as stolen and there were no suspects identified at the time of the report.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO BUSINESS
A representative of a business in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road reported around 10 a.m. on March 19 that someone had damaged the front window during the previous night, leaving it with a web of cracks.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

  • A resident with a car parked in the 200 block of Skokie Valley Road reported around 1 a.m. on March 20 that someone had shattered a window of a their vehicle and damaged the console in its interior during the night. Nothing was reported stolen at the time of the report.
  • A resident with a car parked in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road reported around 5 p.m. on March 22 that someone had punctured the tires on the driver's side of the vehicle earlier that afternoon.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole about $8,500 worth of various tools from an unlocked car parked in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road sometime prior to 2:13 p.m. on March 21, police were told.

ARRESTS

A 20-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 8:15 p.m. on March 19 and charged with driving without a valid license and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the area of North Central and Burchell avenues. He was also issued citations for no rear registration light and improper lighting — one headlight.
