Shoplifters Snatch Over $3,000 Worth Of Perfume Again: Blotter
Wanted man found at private beach; drunken Waukegan resident resists arrest; charge over hit-and-run crash: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
SHOPLIFTING
One male and two female thieves stole three baskets of perfume — with a retail value of between $3,000 and $6,000 — at the Ulta Beauty at 135 Skokie Valley Road shortly before 5 p.m. on Sept. 30. The trio appeared to flee the store parking lot in a silver or gray Ford Mustang, police were told. The incident comes almost exactly a week since a similar incident at the same location the previous Wednesday afternoon.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
At some point between 3 p.m. Sept. 27 and 7 a.m. Sept. 29, eight fire extinguishers in a parking garage in the 700 block of Central Avenue were used or damaged. The total cost of the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

STOLEN CARS
- Someone stole a Bentley from a driveway in the 100 block of Belle Avenue between 4 and 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 29 after it was left unlocked with the key fob inside.
- An unlocked Acura with the keys left inside was stolen from a driveway in the 1900 block of Clifton Avenue between 11:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 2. The car was later found by police in Chicago.

- Someone stole a driver's license, bank cards and identification from inside an unlocked BMW in parked in a driveway in the 300 block of North Deere Park Drive between 4 p.m. Sept. 28 and 8 a.m. Sept. 29.
- An unlocked Infiniti was burglarized during the night of Sept. 28 or early morning hours of Sept. 29 while parked in the 100 block of Ravine Drive. Someone rummaged through the contents of the car and, police were told, stole at least two credit cards.
- Someone rummaged through an unlocked Subaru while it was parked in the 400 block of Pleasant Avenue at some point between Oct. 1 and Oct. 3. Nothing was listed as stolen at the time of the report.
- Cash, a phone charger and sunglasses were reported stolen from an unlocked Honda and Toyota parked in a driveway in the 500 block of Clavey Court between 11 p.m. Oct. 2 and 9 a.m. Oct. 3.
- An unlocked Toyota was burglarized during the night of Oct. 2 or early morning hours of Oct. 3 in the 400 block of Clavey Court. It was not damaged and nothing was listed as stolen at the time of the report.
ARRESTS
Vincent Carani, 44, of the 1000 block of Court Avenue, Highland Park, was charged around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 with battery in connection with an incident that occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 19 in the 400 block of Sheridan Road.
A 27-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 10:30 a.m. Sept. 28 and charged with misdemeanor excessive speeding of 35 mph or more above the limit following a traffic stop at Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West.
Diontae Montrell Myles, 20, of the 4100 block of West Gladys Street, Chicago, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license. He was also issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
John C. Maillard, 43, of the 600 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 29 after officers were called to a report of an unauthorized person on a privately owned beach in the 2200 block of Egandale Road. Police learned he had an active arrest warrant issued by the Lake County Sheriff's Office in connection with a failure to appear in court on charges he caused more than $500 in damage to public property in his block with bright orange spray paint and trespassed in cars.
A 26-year-old Lombard man was arrested around 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 3 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license and cited for disobeying a traffic control device following a traffic stop in the 600 block of Central Avenue.
Christopher K. Simmons, 21, of the 2200 block of Grand Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 6:15 a.m. on Oct. 3 following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Park Avenue West. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, obstructing identification and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license. He was also issued citations for speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver.
