Stalking, ID Theft, Hit-And-Run Arrests: Highland Park Blotter

Highland Park Police Blotter: Feb. 26 - March 4

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Graffiti in red and black spray paint was found on a building in the 2600 block of Waukegan Avenue around noon on Feb. 28.

THEFT
Someone stole a necklace and two bracelets from inside a home in the 0-100 block of South Deere Park Drive at an unknown time, police were told on March 2.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole a wallet from an apparently unlocked car parked in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road between 8 and 9:15 a.m. on March 4, police were told later that afternoon.

ARRESTS

Omar Rodriguez, 21, of the 1000 block of North Poplar Street, Waukegan, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. on Feb. 27 and charged with violation of an order of protection and stalking – no contact order violation after police responded to a report of a suspicious incident at a business in the 1800 block of Second Street.

Juan Bravo, Jr., 46, of the 6000 block of North Hamilton Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 5:48 p.m. on Feb. 28 and charged with two counts of identity theft and fictitious or unlawfully altered identification following an investigation into a report of unusual activity on a credit report and applications for credit earlier this month. A Highland Park resident learned that fake IDs and accounts had been opened up in their name, and some of the fraudulent cards were recovered.

Two teenage Zion residents were arrested and accused of being in a stolen vehicle on the morning of March 3, the driver, 19-year-old Marcus Hampton, was also charged with felony fleeing police, speeding and not having a license.

Carie Blumka, 49, of the 800 block of Blossom Lane, Prospect Heights, was arrested at 1:47 p.m. on March 3 and charged with driving while license revoked, failure to reduce speed and hit-and-run following police investigation into a traffic crash that took place near Clavey Road and the Edens Expressway the day before.
