Task Force Doesn't Like City Plan
Increased security at water treatment plant and access to boat launch ramp at odds.

Tightening security at the water treatment plant in Highland Park shouldn’t come at the expense of those wishing to access the south beach or the boat launch area.
At least that’s the opinion of the Park District of Highland Park task force that has been studying the issue for months, the Highland Park News reports.
“We don’t think it’s workable,” said Nelson Armour, a task force member on the city’s plan for heightened security at the plant by closing the launch area.

City Manager Ghida Neukrich said “Obviously, security is a high priority for us and we want to provide the perimeter fencing, but we also believe in doing what’s in the best interest of the public.”
