HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
One or more burglars broke into an ultrasound imaging studio in the 600 block of Laurel Avenue by smashing a window at some point during the night of Oct. 6 or the early morning of Oct. 7. They stole various unidentified items and did about $22,000 in damage to equipment within the business.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 2800 block of Skokie Valley Road reported around 9:30 a.m. Oct. 9 that someone had smashed the back window of a car. Nothing was reported stolen from inside.

CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 2800 block of Skokie Valley Road reported around 10 a.m. Oct. 9 that someone got into two cars over the past two weeks and stole radios from inside. Police did not specify whether the cars had been left unlocked.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Rafael Diaz, 29, of the 3200 block of North Albany Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 1:45 a.m. Oct. 12 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Clavey Road. He was also issued citations for speeding and speeding 26-30 mph over the limit in a construction zone.

Kevin Vellasco, 28, of the 2100 block of South California, Chicago, was arrested around 3:15 a.m. Oct. 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering the health of a child following a traffic stop at the intersection of Edens Expressway and Clavey Road. He was also issued citations for speeding when construction workers are present and failure to signal when required.

Andy Sandoval, 26, of the 2800 block of Argonne Drive, North Chicago, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more following a traffic stop at the intersection of Berkeley Road and Sunnyside Avenue. He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, improper lane usage and driving on the right side of the roadway.

Sabri Hasan, 34, of the 400 block of Temple Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Oct. 10 and charged with domestic battery when police responded to a complaint of an argument occurring in his block of residence.
