Veterans Day 2018 Observed In Highland Park
The 100th anniversary of the end of World War I is Sunday, see what's open and closed Monday.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The 100th anniversary of the "War to End All Wars" is Sunday. It has been a national holiday since Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Originally known as Armistice Day Congress passed a resolution for an annual observance in 1926. President Eisenhower in 1954 renamed it Veterans Day after World War II. This year it falls on Sunday, Nov. 11.
A Veterans Day ceremony in Highland Park has been set for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the Highland Park Public Library at 494 Lauren Ave. in the adult services department.
