Tri-State Tollway Crash: 5-Vehicle Accident Creates Major Delays; Deputy Hurt
Early Wednesday morning crash involving sheriff's vehicle near 31st Street causes backups on I-294 for miles.

CHICAGO, IL - A Cook County Sheriff's Office vehicle was involved in an accident on the Tri-State Tollway early Wednesday morning that continues to cause major delays during the early morning rush hour.
Reports indicate several other cars - possibly five - were also involved in the accident. Emergency crews have responded.
Three lanes were blocked more than a mile away from the Cermak Road exit near 31st Street. They were re-opened around 6:45 a.m., but the backup continues past I-55, according to a WGN-TV Traffic report.

Average car speeds are 6 mph. Commuter delays are up to one hour, according to FOX traffic reporter Jenny Milkowski.
The delay just before 7 a.m. effected cars all the way to the 82nd Street toll plaza.
