The 88-year-old told officers that she was in her living room when the three men entered through the side door next to the driveway. The men said they were with either ComEd or Comcast, according to the report.

Two of the men went upstairs, while the other one stayed with the 88-year-old, police said. They were believed to be at the house for about 10 minutes.

They left the house through a rear sliding door and the side door.

The woman said she did not notice anything missing, but she was unable to check upstairs, police said.

The caretaker said that when she returned to the house, she saw the men going into a silver SUV in the driveway and then heading north on Elm.

The caretaker walked through the house with an officer and did not notice anything missing, police said. The officer noticed loose change on the floor in the master bedroom and that a drawer in the room was not fully closed.

Ruse burglars often distract and engage homeowners in conversation while someone else enters the home and removes valuables.
