CLARENDON HILLS, IL – Clarendon Hills Village Manager Kevin Barr strengthened his position Monday.

This follows a tough time for Barr. In January, Village President Len Austin suspended Barr for two weeks and had the village cut off his computer network access.

At the time, the village misled the public about Barr's situation, saying he was on personal leave and working from home. Public records obtained by Patch proved otherwise.

After Barr returned, the Village Board voted for a new contract that made it easier to fire him.

At Monday's Village Board meeting, though, the board unanimously approved a $3,600 bonus and a $5,084 pay raise for Barr, for a total of nearly $8,500. His salary rose to $174,890.

The board did not discuss the issue. Nor did any residents at the meeting. Trustees voted on the increases as part of a package of other items.

The trustees consist of Greg Jordan, Megan Lazar, Allyson Russo, Carol Jorissen, Meredith Lannert and Matt DeDobbelaere.

After the vote, Barr said, "I would like to thank the Village Board for your support on my issue."

Barr's contract expires after next April's election.
