AMI Announces 2017 Violin Competition Winners and Laureates
Some of the region's best young artists competed in the AMI Violin Competition on April 30, 2017.

Announcing - Winners of the 2017 AMI Violin Competition
We would like to announce the Winners and Laureates of the 2017 AMI Violin Competition. The 2017 competition showcased some of the best young violin talent in the Midwest.
Come hear the Winners and Laureates showcase their talents at the AMI Winners Concert on Sunday, May 28th at 2pm. The Winners Concert will take place at AMI's Clarendon Hills Campus, located at 60 55th St. in Clarendon Hills.
AMI congratulates all who participated in the competition and took advantage of this musical performance opportunity. The 2017 winners and laureates are as follows:

2017 Winners:
- 1st Prize – $400 – Kitsho Hosotani
- 2nd Prize – $125 – Justin Lee
- 3rd Prize – $75 – Robert Sanders

Kitsho Hosotani (17) is from Wilmette, a student of Professor Ilya Kaler. He has soloed with several local orchestras around Chicago and has won first prizes in Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Thirteen Annual DePaul Concerto Festival competitions.

Justin Lee (16) is from Lincolnshire and a student Mrs. Betty Haag-Kuhnke. He is a 1st prize recipient of Sejong Music Competition Award’ in 2013 and 2014, and has performed solo in the US and Europe.

Robert Sanders (17) is from Skokie and a student Robert Hanford. Robert has won awards at numerous... Confucius, DePaul, Walgreens, Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and was the winner of the 2016 and 2017 Discover Competitions along with the 2017 WDAV Competition. Robert will be attending the Eastman School of Music to pursue a degree in Violin Performance this coming fall.
