Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Dedicates New Patient Pavilion

hosted a dedication ceremony on March 21 for the new patient pavilion. This invitation-only event recognized project donors and other community leaders for their support. 

The pavilion doesn’t officially open until April, but the rest of the community can get a “sneak peek” of the state-of-the-art space at the hospital’s “Friends & Neighbors Open House." Scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, 120 N. Oak St., this event is free but advance registration is recommended. Register online by clicking here or by calling 630-856-7525. The event includes: 

• self-guided tours, 
• a cooking demonstration by Jimmy Bannos from Heaven on Seven
• an appearance by the Veggie Tales, and 
• a string quartet performance by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. 

Easy and convenient parking will be available at: 1 Salt Creek Lane, 2 Salt Creek Lane/Clock Tower, 7 Salt Creek Lane, 11 Salt Creek Lane and 907 Elm (off Ogden Avenue, right off of I-294). Free trolleys will pick up and drop off guests and their families. 

The largest single gift to the patient pavilion project so far is a $1 million donation from Michael J. Birck, founder of Tellabs, Inc., and his wife, Katherine. Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s Birck Family Birth Center was re-dedicated March 21. 

This is the Bircks’ second $1 million contribution to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital; the first was made in 1996 when Michael Birck served as chairman of the campaign to renovate the Women’s and Children’s Center, now known as the Birck Family Birth Center. 

“In re-dedicating the Birck Family Birth Center and dedicating this new patient pavilion, we are affirming our commitment to our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ,” said John Rapp, regional vice president, ministries and mission, Adventist Midwest Health. 

The goal of the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation’s “Your Family, Your Health, Our Commitment” capital campaign is to raise $22 million for the patient pavilion and outpatient cancer center. The foundation is nearly halfway toward reaching that goal. 

“Without the support of these individuals, this important project would not have come to fruition,” said David L. Crane, president and chief executive officer, Adventist Midwest Health. “So many of our friends and neighbors made this vision a reality, and for that, we are grateful.”
