Another Clarendon Hills Official Leaving
He is the second official to announce his departure in recent days.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL – A top Clarendon Hills official on Friday gave his two weeks' notice that he would resign.
In a letter to officials, Jonathan Mendel, the village's community development director for the last couple of years, said his last day would be April 7.
His resignation letter was turned in three days after Village Manager Kevin Barr informed the Village Board that he planned to retire June 30 after more than eight years at the helm.

In his letter, Mendel did not indicate what his next step would be. In an email to Patch, Mendel said he would be the new director of development and planning services for Northbrook.
"It has been a pleasure to work for you, the Clarendon Hills community and the Village Administration and Village Board, which is due to the unceasing good work of all public and private community members striving for a great community," Mendel said in the letter.

Mendel, who lives in Arlington Heights, started as the director in July 2021. He was previously the community development director in Medina, Ohio, which is about three times the size of Clarendon Hills. He worked in Medina for nearly eight years.
In his Clarendon Hills job, Mendel handled zoning issues, among other things. Perhaps the biggest zoning controversy during Mendel's time was the proposal for a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru. The village rejected it.
