Local residents showed their support for summer recreation and the Clarendon Hills Park District when tbey approved a referendum funding a new pool at Lions Park. This same community was patient in 2025 when the pool was closed for construction during tbe entire aquatics sesson. Season passes for 2026 went on sale in March, with the new Lions Park Pool set to open over Memorial Day weekend. This schedule was pushed back by two weeks, allegedly due to weather related construction delays. Park district leaders have openly admitted that 15 % of the pool season was lost this spring. Refunds have been offered to early pool pass buyers. During the first weekend in June, there was a delayed opening time for areas of the pool complex. Very little information was provided to the public about this change. The 2026 pool season marks the first time in decades that the a Superintendent of Recreation is overseeing all pool functions. Furthermore, the park district headed into its busiest time of year with two vacant slots for Recreation Supervisors. The community's confidence in the Clarendon Hills Park District should be "washed up" this year. Clearly, the new pool at 100 Byrd Court is little more than a Lions Den. It is time for a change at the highest levels of the Clarendon Hills Park District.
