A number of Hinsdale Middle School students were recently honored by the District 181 Board of Education as Ambassadors of Excellence. Gabriella Dull earned 1st place in the Captain Hubbard Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest. Jack Lane was selected for inclusion in the National Poetry Contest Anthology. Mackenzie Airhart earned 2nd place in a VFW Patriot's Pen essay contest, while Shea Draddy earned 1st place, as well as 2nd place at the regional level. The following students earned awards in the Latin School Math Contest: Will Lopez (1st place, 7th Grade Individual Competition); Victor Buccellato (2nd place, 6th Grade Team); Dinesh Jaliparthi (2nd place, 6th Grade Team); Herbert Wang (2nd place, 6th Grade Team); and Thomas Mercurio (2nd place, 6th Grade Team; 1st Place Individual Competition). Finally, members of the HMS girls and boys 7th grade basketball teams were recognized. The girls team earned 2nd place in the Orange Division. Team members include: Samantha Brescia, Abby Carstensen, Sarah Dandorph, Ryan Dittoe, Denise Fischer, Eliza Fridholm, Hannah Fuechtman, Rachel Fuechtman, McKenna Hayes, Regan Hultquist, Lilly McNichols, and Sabrina Messina. The boys team was the Conference Champion for the Orange Division. Team members include: Scott Bitautas, Jack Cain, Connor Dressler, Spencer Galati, Andrew Harzich, Jake Jones, Charlie Lyne, Ikshwank Mahajan, Matt Rush, William Sessa, Jackson Stone, and Payton Ward.
