Bonsai!

Bonsai is the Japanese art of growing miniature trees in shallow containers. This very interesting hobby has been growing in popularity in the past few years, giving gardeners of all skill levels something to keep them busy with year-round.

Many people are fascinated by these little trees, and for a good reason.  While taking care of Bonsai can be learned at any age, it definitely takes practice.  At Vern Goers Greenhouse, no one knows this better than our horticulturist Dan Kosta.  He was recently featured on an episode of DigIn Chicago, which you can view here.

And now is your chance to learn from this Bonsai master!  Dan will be leading two classes on Bonsai on Saturday, September 14 at Vern Goers Greenhouse.
The first will be a free class at 10:00 am.  In this class, Dan will discuss the basics of Bonsai as well as how to prepare trees for the winter months.  The class is free, but we ask that you sign up in case we need to change the date or time due to weather.  630-323-1085

The second class with Dan will be a potting & syling workshop on that same day, Saturday, September 14 at 1:30 pm.   During this workshop, Dan will b showing each participant how to create their own Boxwood Bonsai tree to take home.  If you have tools, you are welcome to bring them, but there will be some provided.  This workshop will cost $35/person and is limited to 10 people. Please stop by or call to register for this class, 630-323-1085.  The fee is due at time of registration.

Hopefully you all get a chance to check out this great form of gardening.

Happy Planting!
