Burr Ridge Kitchen Remodel Wins Local & Regional Awards

Each year, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), recognizes top renovation projects from 7 regions around the country for the Regional CotY TM (Contractor of the Year) Awards. This year, a Burr Ridge, IL kitchen remodel, created by talented Designer Leslie Lee of Normandy Remodeling, was named a 2015 North Central Regional CotY winner. This same project was further recognized locally, just weeks ago, with a First Place 2014 Remodeling Excellence Award, an award granted in a separate competition held by the NARI of Greater Chicagoland chapter.

The award-winning kitchen remodel effectively captured the homeowner’s refined rustic style seen throughout their home, and reproduced that same style in this colorful take on an Old-World kitchen with modern amenities. “A walk through this Burr Ridge home feels like walking through a gorgeous Italian villa,” says Lee. “It was important to have the kitchen reflect that same feeling. We used mahogany wood with green and black painted cabinetry throughout the space to create focal points and a sense of harmony. The kitchen also features a furniture-look paneled refrigerator armoire, a functional kitchen island, and rustic chandelier light fixtures; all elements that complement the Italian style.”

Thoughtful details saturate this kitchen, from custom niches for cooking oils built into the hood, to cabinetry peg drawers to maximize storage, all the way to the custom designed island pedestal. Even the trash cabinets have an auto-open mechanism that operates with just the bump of a knee, and the refrigerator armoire area is organized to meet the family’s needs perfectly. Lee incorporated the homeowners’ desire for frequent entertaining ease and paired it with their family’s daily use to create a space that is uniquely suited to their needs.

“Creating a space for my clients that is so well tailored to their needs is why I love my work,” says Lee. “To then have one of my projects receive this type of recognition, is flattering and humbling all at once.”

Judging for the 2015 CotY Awards was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty by an impartial panel of industry experts. The entries of this year’s competition totaled more than $84.5 million worth of remodeling projects.
