Charlie's Gift Center Returns to The Community House in Hinsdale
Charlie's Gift addresses the needs of children and families facing autism, sensory processing disorders and other mental health issues.

HINSDALE, IL — The Community House has announced the return of Charlie’s Gift Center for Autism and Related Disorders to the Hinsdale facility. According to a release, Charlie’s Gift addresses the needs of children and families facing autism, sensory processing disorders, anxiety and other mental health issues.
The Community House said Charlie’s Gift is a program of The Community House, and originally offered services in Hinsdale, but has been based in Downers Grove for the last nine years. However the Charlie’s Gift Center will be relocated back to The Community House facility at 415 W. Eighth St., in Hinsdale as of May 24.
According to a release, Charlie’s Gift Center will be co-located with The Community House’s Counseling Center, a mental health service housed at the main facility in Hinsdale. By bringing these two important service units under the same roof, families will be able to participate in more services including stress management, mindfulness, and therapeutic arts and recreation.

“We are so excited to bring Charlie’s Gift back to our Hinsdale facility,” Jeni Fabian, Executive Director of The Community House said in a release. “Clients will benefit from increased cross-referrals between our counseling and autism spectrum services, and we are expanding programming focused on stress management and mental wellbeing for all walks of life. We’ve seen a growing need to provide mental wellness supports for teens and families, and have witnessed first-hand the benefits youth receive from services designed with mental health and sensory processing expertise.”
The Community House said Charlie’s Gift Center offers exceptional treatment approach to ASD, sensory processing concerns, mood disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

“There are so many individuals trying to effectively cope with anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses. Often they do not receive treatment, including youth on the autism spectrum,” lead therapist Dr. Aimee Koerner-Frank said in a release. “By locating Charlie’s Gift Center and The Counseling Center together at The Community House, we will be in a better position to tailor mental health services for each family, and to deepen our scholarship opportunities.”
