I’m not the kind of person to make new year’s resolutions but when I heard that the founder of Urban Darling, Corinne Phipps, was planning on not buying anything new (outerwear, clothes, shoes, accessories) until Easter, I was inspired. Knowing me, not shopping for anything is really a stretch. But I thought maybe my buying habits need to be a little more focused. January is a great time to take stock of what you really need in your closet. I recommend setting some money aside for bigger ticket items that you could wear for seasons to come. A camel coat, black sheath dress, patent pumps, classic leather handbag, and a man’s watch are pieces that come to mind that are classic and will stand the test of time.
Here is a link to Polyvore with these classics in mind.
Classics for the New Year by kathrine00021 featuring black pumps
Recently, I found an amazing classic black handbag from Henri Bendel for 40% off. It’s the No. 7 Quilted Zip Tote. I couldn’t resist because I knew that it would stay in my wardrobe forever. The leather is so supple and the size can be changed with it’s unique zipper on the outside. When I am carrying it for a night out, it’s zipped up and more compact. During the week when I am running around with my kids, it’s unzipped and used more like a tote. This definitely was a great buy because of its versatility and classic look. So what classic item are you looking for in this new year?
