CON ANIMA CONCERT, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19 at 5:00 PM
Western Springs Music Club is hosting an Instrumental Scholarship Concert, Sunday, Nov. 19th at 5:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Hinsdale.
Don’t miss “CON ANIMA”, The Western Springs Music Club’s annual concert to help promising young instrumentalists in the local community remain committed to classical music excellence. The concert will be held on Sunday, November 19th at 5:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 204 S. Grant St., Hinsdale.
Performing will be world-renowned cellist and Juilliard graduate, Steven Sigurdson. Steven has been a featured cello soloist on albums by Gloria Estefan, Extreme, Zak Wylde, among others. Since 1996, he has been a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences which presents the annual Grammy Awards.
Jason Deroche is an exciting guitarist of his generation as he fuses the Old World tradition with an understanding of the pop culture that exists today. A member of Avanti Guitar Trio, Jason’s versatility combined with his relaxed style, has made him a highly sought after guitar instructor.

Known as a versatile performer, Lisa Goethe-McGinn is a much sought after performer of contemporary, cutting-edge music. She is currently working on solo and collaborative projects and with flute/cello duo, Cherchez la Femme. She has performed as a flute soloist and ensemble member with new music and improvisation group, Ensemble Noamnesia and with MAVerick Ensemble. She has given both U.S. and World premiere performances of numerous compositions and has worked directly with composers and notable improvisers both in the U.S. and abroad.
“Con Anima” means “with spirit” and it is with great spirit that these musicians avidly perform to encourage youths in the local area to participate in an instrumental scholarship program to be held in Hinsdale in February 2018. The aim is to inspire our young instrumentalists to further their educational pursuits in music.
