Coronavirus: More Patients At Hinsdale Hospital
Amita chain says it has "adequate facilities" to handle patients.

HINSDALE, IL — The hospital in Hindale is seeing more patients diagnosed with the coronavirus than it did two weeks ago, according to the hospital chain's latest information. As of Monday, Amita Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale had 17 patients with the coronavirus. That was up from 11 two weeks ago.
"We have adequate facilities and resources to care for these patients," Olga Solares, a spokeswoman for the Amita chain, said in an email to Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Patch on Monday.
At Amita's hospital in La Grange, 24 coronavirus patients are being treated, up from 17 two weeks ago, the chain said. Over the same period, the number of virus-related patients at Elmhurst Hospital increased to 60, from 54.

On Monday, Elmhurst Hospital reported 28 deaths of patients with confirmed cases of the coronavirus so far. That was up from 21 a week earlier. The numbers of coronavirus-related deaths at specific Amita hospitals is unknown.
Earlier this month, Amita told Patch it would not release the number of coronavirus cases for each of its hospitals. However, after Patch informed Amita that Elmhurst Hospital released such information, the chain decided to divulge the statistics to the public.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills had 57 confirmed cases of the coronavirus — 32 in Hinsdale and 25 in Clarendon Hills, according to health authorities. This total is nearly triple the April 1 number, when it was as many as 20.
At the current level, Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills have 2.2 confirmed coronavirus cases per thousand. That compares to 3.4 in Riverside, 3.2 in La Grange, 1.8 in La Grange Park and 1.1 in Western Springs. In DuPage County as a whole, the rate is 1.8 cases per thousand.
