D-86 Board Member Resigns Effective Immediately

Board president says he is saddened by member's departure.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale High School District 86 board member Nancy Pollak is immediately stepping down from her position because she is moving out of state, the school district announced Tuesday.

In a mass email announcing the development, school board President Kevin Camden praised Pollak's service to the community.

"While I am incredibly happy for my close friend and colleague, I am saddened by the loss of a trusted member of our team and important leader in our community," Camden said. "Nancy has been a dedicated and selfless public servant, particularly in the area of public education."

Besides her role with District 86, Pollak is credited with working on the new Prospect School referendum in 2000. The school is part of Community Consolidated School District 181, which serves elementary and middle students in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills.

The process to replace Pollak will start immediately, Camden said. The vacancy, he said, must be filled within 60 days after the vacancy occurs.

"As we have done with previous vacancies, we will create an application that prospective candidates will need to fill out in order to be considered for the position," Camden said. "We will share that application with the community as soon as it is available."

Pollak was elected in 2017, and the board chose her as its president in 2019. She served a year in that role and was replaced by Camden.

According to the school district's website, Pollak has worked in marketing and advertising for several major companies.

In Illinois, school board positions are unpaid.
