D181 Family Resource Network Earns INSPRA Award of Excellence

Family Resource Network Parent Liaisons Lainey Hately and Jennifer Zock have been honored with an Award of Excellence from the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA). The distinction was given as part of the INSPRA Distinguished Service Awards, an event held on May 2, 2013 at the Park Ridge Country Club to recognize staff, parents, residents, Board members and students who have gone above and beyond in their roles and have effectively served as public relations ambassadors through their leadership and commitment.

Hately and Zock began as volunteers that saw a need for a parent support network within the District’s Pupil Services Department. They spearheaded the formation of the Family Resource Network. In 2011-12, a grant was attained that allowed the pair to become short-term employees, and in 2012-13, they were hired as District staff. Throughout this past school year, they have collaboratively provided support and communication among all District stakeholders. The Family Resource Network started the District’s Summer Camp Expo, they have hosted dozens of educational meetings, and provided assistance to many parents and colleagues.

Hately and Zock note, “We were surprised and humbled by this nomination. We are grateful to the District and to INSPRA for recognizing our work. It is an honor to serve this community.”
