Community Consolidated School District 181 is welcoming 12 new certified staff members for the 2013-14 school year.
- Kory Blumer will be a Speech-Language Pathologist at Hinsdale Middle School. Blumer has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Colorado. Blumer’s experience includes two years as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the Winnebago County Special Education Cooperative.
- Lisa Brough will teach sixth grade Language Arts and Spanish for Hinsdale Middle School. Brough earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education (minor in Spanish) from DePaul University. Her experience includes service as a long-term substitute for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade in Clarendon Hills Middle School and she student taught at Hinsdale Middle School.
- Mary Coughlin will be a Resource teacher for Monroe. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Eastern Illinois University. Her experience includes two years as a Resource teacher in Chicago Public Schools.
- Christine Ferris will teach third grade at Walker School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from St. Mary’s University and holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois in Champaign. Ferris’ experience includes service as a long-term substitute in the fourth grade at The Lane School and three years as a first and second grade teacher at Prospect School.
- Molly Griggs will work with the District’s Early Childhood Education program (.5 FTE) out of Oak School. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Marquette University and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from DePaul University. Her experience includes two years as a Pre-K teacher at Pershing East Magnet School.
- Christine Guide will teach fourth grade at Monroe. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Western Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois in Champaign. Guide’s experience includes eight years a Resource teacher at Clarendon Hills Middle School and Brodnicki Elementary in School District 109.
- Lynn Mueller will teach fifth grade at Walker. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Knox College. Mueller served as a fifth grade teacher for one year in Indian Prairie School District 204.
- Melinda Phelan will be a Reading Specialist at Clarendon Hills Middle School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts in Reading, Writing and Literacy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Phelan also earned an ESL endorsement from National-Louis University. Her experience includes six years as a Reading Specialist and Reading Intervention teacher in Schiller Park School District 81 and six years as a Music teacher in the same district.
- Jennifer Pierson will teach fourth grade at The Lane School. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Benedictine University. Pierson’s experience includes service as a long-term substitute for fifth grade at The Lane School and Prospect School. She was a fourth grade teacher for four years in Lyons School District 103.
- Catherine Procuniar will teach Kindergarten at Monroe (.5 FTE). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Indiana University and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from DePaul University. Her experience includes one year as a Kindergarten teacher in the Chicago International Charter School, and over three years as an Instructional Assistant for Chicago Public Schools and Walker School.
- Tina Senese will teach third grade at Elm School. Senese has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Loyola University and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University. Her experience includes nine years as an elementary teacher at St. Vincent Ferrer School in River Forest and Saint Mary Star of the Sea in Chicago. She also served as an Instructional Assistant, tutor, and long-term substitute in District 181.
- Pamela Sisson will teach fifth grade at Monroe. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Maryville University of St. Louis. Her experience includes time as a long-term substitute for Oak School third grade and eight years as a teacher of fourth and fifth grade in Francis Howell School District and Hazelwood School District.
