HINSDALE, IL — Voters in Hinsdale Township School District 86 have apparently decided to say "yes" to the $140 million referendum. With 86 percent reporting as of just before 11 p.m., "Yes" has a lead of 60.75% to 39.25% for "No." District 86 has also sent out a statement confirming that voters have indeed approved the bond proposition.

“Our community values its schools and through this vote has said it wants its facilities to be sound in their infrastructure and as safe and secure as we can make them,” said Dr. Bruce Law, superintendent of Hinsdale Township High School District 86. “Our community rightfully demands excellence from its high schools, and soon our facilities will be on par with the outstanding instruction going on inside them.”

The more than $139 million referendum would fund improvements to facilities in Hinsdale Township High School District 86. The referendum was approved in January, a month after the board took the drastic step of eliminating football, wrestling, cheerleading, dance, boys and girls' swimming, boys and girls' water polo and marching band for the 2019-20 school year.

"The bonds approved by voters will now fund the upgrades and repairs instead."
