Face-To-Face Scam, Theft: Hinsdale Cops
A man buying an iPhone was scammed outside a local store, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:
Scams
- A person met with a suspect about 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Whole Foods Market parking lot, 500 E. Ogden Ave., to buy an iPhone that the suspect was selling on social media. The victim discovered the phone was not a genuine iPhone after the suspect left. The case is pending.
- A suspect who claimed he was with computer support accessed a computer of a resident in the 100 block of East Maple Street. Afterward, the victim reported $848 in unauthorized transactions against his bank account. The thefts happened Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 and were reported Thursday.

- A jewelry box containing several pieces of jewelry was stolen between 9 a.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday from a house in the 400 block of Pamela Circle. The homeowner had workers inside her house during the timeframe of the theft. The loss was estimated at $3,550. The case is pending.
- A lawn decoration was stolen overnight Aug. 21 in the 600 block of Justina Street.
Hit-and-run crash
- A hit-and-run crash happened between 10:30 a.m. and noon July 16 in the 500 block of North Washington Street. A parked car was hit. White and silver paint was transferred to the victim's car. The crash was reported Aug. 23.
