Found Live Ammunition Sparked Shelter-in-Place Friday at Hinsdale Central High School
Police believe a 15-year-old male student brought the piece of ammunition to school.

A piece of live ammunition found on the grounds of Hinsdale Central High School sparked Friday’s shelter-in-place directive.
The ammunition was abandoned in the school’s cafeteria, according to Hinsdale Township High School District 86 and Hinsdale police.

Police have detained a 15-year-old male student, who is believed to be responsible for bringing the ammunition to Hinsdale Central, according to police and the school.
The student didn’t have any weapons in his possession. No charges have been filed yet.

No one was injured, and the shelter-in-place ended around 1:20 p.m.
