Update: Hinsdale Central High School Lifts 'Shelter in Place' Directive
Hinsdale police are at the school to help the administration ensure student safety.

Hinsdale Central staff have been asked to resume instruction and normal classroom procedures, according to a source inside the school.
The building administration was able to investigate the situation so the shelter-in-place could be lifted.

The shelter-in-place has been lifted, and Hinsdale Central has resumed normal operations, according to Hinsdale police.

Update: 1:20 p.m.
Hinsdale police are investigating an incident on school grounds to determine if a crime has been committed, according to a statement.
Police affirmed that no one has been injured, and they don’t believe there is any endangerment to students or staff. The shelter-in-place directive is a precautionary measure, and it will continue while police investigate.

Update: 1:12 p.m.
Hinsdale Central students and staff are preparing to transition at 1:20 p.m. from seventh period classes to eighth period classes, according to a source inside the school.
Staff without a seventh period class were asked to secure exits and help maintain the students and staff.
The shelter in place is expected to remain in effect during all class and instructional time, according to the source.

Update: 1 p.m.
There is ”no immediate crisis” right now at Hinsdale Central, said Karen Warner, director of communications for Hinsdale Township High School District 86.
Warner said students are safe and no one has been injured. Students are now able to transfer between classes, though at this time no one is allowed in or out of the school. Parents have been notified of the situation.
Warner could not comment on the source of the threat.

All students and staff at Hinsdale Central High School have been instructed to remain in the building until further notice, according to Hinsdale Township High School District 86.
A ’shelter in place’ directive has been issued at the school, and Hinsdale police are at the school to help ensure student safety.
No one is allowed in or out of the school until police give the all clear. Classes are continuing.
