Fraud Against Church, DUIs: Hinsdale Cops
A man and a woman were arrested on DUI charges in the last few days, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving fraud, DUIs, counterfeit bills, a violation of a protection order and identity theft. Here is information from the latest reports:
Fraud
- Someone intercepted a $525 check mailed by Union Church, 137 S. Garfield Ave., and cashed it.

- Kimberly B. Lesher, 56, of La Grange Park, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of West Ogden Avenue on charges of DUI, improper lane use and unlawful use of a phone while driving. She submitted to testing that indicated she was over the legal limit. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Jorge E. Hernandez-Ruiz, 24, of Westmont, was arrested about 1 a.m. Monday at Route 83 and Chicago Avenue on charges of possession of a controlled substance, DUI, speeding and improper lane use. Police said he was in possession of a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for cocaine. He refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Counterfeit
- A suspect passed a counterfeit $100 bill about 5 p.m. Feb. 7 at Walgreens, 15 Grant Square. Then the person passed another such bill at Kramer Foods, 15 Grant Square. The case is pending.
Violation of protective order

- A resident in the 10 block of East Sixth Street told police that a suspect violated an order of protection about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7. The case is pending.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 10 block of West Birchwood Avenue told police Friday that someone tried to open a bank account using the resident's identity. The case is pending.
