Gun Theft, Car Burglaries: Hinsdale Cops
A gun and other items were stolen from a house in a local neighborhood, police said.
HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving a gun theft, car burglaries, a door-to-door solicitor, a dumpster fire, a hospital incident and car damage. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
Gun theft
- A gun, a laptop and a laser level were stolen between July 1 and July 5 from a house in the 800 block of West North Street. The resident said a number of workers were at the house during the timeframe of the theft. The case is pending.
Car burglaries

- Cars were burglarized last week in the 5600 block of South Washington Street and the 600 block of South Park Street. On Washington, someone entered three unlocked cars parked in a driveway about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, with $10 to $15 in loose cash reported taken. On Park, someone rummaged through a resident's unlocked cars and stole a garage door opener overnight Saturday.
Solicitor
- Jaylin M. Matias, 18, of Forest Park, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on a Winnebago County warrant. Police came into contact with Matias after receiving a complaint about a door-to-door solicitor.
Dumpster fire

- Firefighters responded to a dumpster fire about 1 a.m. Sunday in front of a house under construction in the 700 block of South Grant Street. Police found remnants of fireworks in the area.
Hospital incident
- Chinnawut Ngeunjuntr, 71, was arrested shortly before midnight July 5 at the Hinsdale hospital on DuPage County warrants. This happened after he refused to leave the hospital following his discharge. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Car damage
- The driver's side window of a parked car was damaged shortly before midnight Thursday at the Colonial Apartments, 5500 S. Madison St. The victim heard his car alarm going off and saw two people wearing black hooded sweatshirts crouched next to his car. The suspects drove away in a dark Dodge Charger. Nothing was reported missing from the victim's car. The case is pending.
